FOUNDING HISTORY
Creating and implementing benchmark educational initiatives
Good Shepherd School was established in the year 2002 and catering to more than 400 students at present did not just blossom up to its present stage but with a humble beginning and through the untiring efforts, tears, struggles and the heartfelt cries of God’s people. The school has twisted its way out from a long murky tunnel despite varied circumstances and has been a blessing to thousands and hundreds more today.
It started with 45 students and a staff of 2. The school has gradually progressed over the years upgrading classes up to 10th. Now the school is functioning with 20 classrooms for Nursery to X. The number of teaching staff is 15 .The number of non-teaching staff is 7. Total number of staff is 22.
The school has a library with a good collection of books for students. We also have a well-equipped computer lab with 10 systems for creating technology-based projects. We have a well-equipped Science lab, Social and Maths Labs. The school has a medical room with first aid, an instrument of height and weight. We have an activity room which is designed for student’s group activities like story time, rhyme time etc.
We also have a large play ground with play equipment like volleyball court, basketball, for seniors and slides, merry go round and swing, see- saw for the students.
Through the initiative of the school, Self Help Group (SHG) was set up on March 18 2006 whereby people, mostly the parents of the students, were given a small amount of loan to start small businesses. At present, 200 people have benefited from this scheme and are running their business smoothly. This is especially notable as it has enabled them to earn a decent livelihood and turn away from making illegal local liquor which endangers their life in every angle.
Moreover, the school has also opened up a tailoring centre in 2009 where 65 people graduated from the first year itself. In total, the school had produced 10 batches where 500 students graduated altogether till date. Thereafter, employment was given to the ten finest students from each batch in The Good Shepherd Garments who supply school uniforms to all the O.M schools in the state.
From 2013 to 2020 and 9 batches of grade X have appeared board examinations and successful results. In the year 2018-19 and 2019-2020 we had 100% results.
LEADERSHIP
‘Education is the only power to bring the change we aspire for.’ Good shepherd schools were the initiatives taken by our management long time ago to make our vision ‘Enlighten to Empower’. Our Good shepherd school has been an organization making a great difference in the field of education for the last 21 years. As one of the leading institutions in serving the village students, the school has been fulfilling all the needs of the day by being technologically empowered with time.
I believe my role as an educator is to guide and nurture the next generation to establish skills to achieve academic excellence, communications skills, leadership qualities health, respect, and fulfilment in one’s goals.
I am passionate about students being empowered to succeed. As a Principal, I use all tools available to inspire staff and students to work together to promote student achievement and well-being.
I am an avid supporter of effective and innovative wholesome development that encourages teachers and principals to be reflective and to continuously examine our practice to provide quality pedagogy to each student. My role as Principal is to keep up with latest trends and research and be an active partner in the school’s curricular and co-curricular domain.
The ability to be innovative and creative is the core aspect of schooling. I enjoy being challenged and inspired by the people around me. I aim to enthuse and challenge staff and students to be inventive and imaginative in their pursuit of education.
I believe that having quality, inspirational and passionate teachers is essential to a school’s success. In the words of John Hattie, “Teachers should build classroom climate where errors are welcome, student engagement is the norm, questioning is high and students gain reputations as effective learners.”
We value relationships and integration with the community. We encourage our students to develop healthy relationship with their peers, teachers and the broader community. We instil in our students a keen social conscience and the capacity to make ethical decisions. We are proud to be known as a school nurturing leadership to create competent, contributing and responsible citizens of future India.
